Metrics & data

Where the data comes from

The providers behind each reading, and why observation dates and update times differ.

RiskCurrent retrieves readings through its own backend, api.riskcurrent.com. Provider credentials stay on the server and are never stored in the app.

Providers

Metrics come from established public and official sources, including:

  • CPB
  • EIA
  • FAO
  • FED_BOARD
  • FRED
  • GIE
  • NYFED
  • WORLD_BANK

Freshness

Each metric follows its provider's publishing schedule. Some update daily; others monthly or less often. A reading's observation date (when the provider measured it) is kept separate from when the app retrieved it, so a monthly figure can be weeks old and still be the latest available.

The reading state next to each value tells you whether it's on schedule. See What reading states mean.
